I only discovered this site by accident a few days ago and joined. There is a wealth of information and knowledge on here and wish I had found it earlier. My name is Ian Haskell age 46 living near Southampton and working at Swanwick ATC Centre. I started my ATC career at Southampton airport in 1979 and was pleased to see some old pictures of the old hangars and buildings there when I logged on.

I have seen Richard Flaggs pictures before and keep checking back to see what's new. My main interests are British built aircraft particularly the BAC 1-11 as my late father used to work for BAC at Hurn, aviation, shipping and transport photography with a special interest in air to ground pictures of airfields both active and disused. I will get round to sorting out my aerial pictures and posting some more of them here and also have about 1300+ pictures at www.airliners.net (http://www.airliners.net) and nearly 6000 at www.planepictures.net (http://www.planepictures.net)

Best regards

Welcome Ian.

Ah the BAC 1-11. Most of our holidays in Majorca in the early 1970's were on 1-11's or Comet 4c's, usually out on one, back on the other. Dan Air and Court Line were two I remember. Didn't the 1-11's have hush kits at one stage. They weren't quitet!

Look forward to seeing some of your aerial photos.

Hi Ian

Welcome along to AiX! Depending on which of my photos you have seen is how up to date I am with them!! The airfields site is only missing a set from Orfordness, and the Aircraft site is missing the September Duxford airshow!! - too much to do still!!! Have you seen the few photos of the BAC 1-11 I took at Lyneham? http://richardflagg.fotopic.net/lyneham2008

I'll look forward to seeing some of your aerial photos as well, sounds like you have a few to go through!! You might like the "what airfield" thread as well - Mind you I no good at working them out!!

Hope you enjoy the forum!
