Archive Funding Appeal

With plans regarding the Archive coming together, we would welcome any amount from anyone interested in this project - doesn't matter how small or large. It should be pointed out that the Airfield Research Group is a not-for-profit organisation. Donations will be used for the sole purpose of administering the acquisition of the premises and their refurbishment and equipping.

Please help with this worthwhile and exciting project by parting with a few pounds. It will be of benefit to all.

Cheques should be made payable to Airfield Research Group and sent to Company Secretary Richard Flagg at the following address:

Richard Flagg (Secretary)
47 Low Street
Hoxne
Suffolk
IP21 5AS

Donations are preferred by Cheque.

If possible, please send cheques by Recorded Delivery. Do not send cash through the post!

Donations from outside the UK are very welcome but for the time being, please make them in £ Sterling.

You can also donate online by clicking this link and following the instructions;
http://www.airfieldresearchgroup.org.uk/appeals.html

DONATING PHYSICAL ITEMS TO THE ARCHIVE

Any items that can be posted, please do so to the above address along with a covering letter so we can carefully catalogue your donation.

If you have anything to big to post, please contact us using aix@theairfieldarchive.org.uk and we will reply to you to make arrangements for collection or dropping off at the ARG Archive.

Many thanks in advance

Another bump. Our next requirement is funding for another 50 archive boxes.

My company had offered an advertisement proposal to the forum, which was rejected, deciding to remain with these rolling "Ad Choices" banners at top and bottom of the forum, which I cannot imagine return anything at all. If the group is after funds.....

Steve I can't give you the exact figures as I don't have them, but I can tell you that the income from the "Adsense" banners is considerably more than the full ratecard prices that you would have been quoted when you inquired.

The "rolling banners" may not be perfect but they are often surprisingly relevant, and as such they represent the best value advertising solution for the group at this time.

Having spoken to Noel, I believe the income from them is decent, but in terms of advertising for companies the leader-board rates offered are not representative of the likely returns, which for the vast majority of companies, will likely be nothing. Therefore if you intend to attract companies to advertise you will have to consider they are doing so, not because it's a great advertising opportunity, but because the directors/partners have a soft spot for the forum/group/preservation of airfields etc. When a company such as this shows an interest in taking the leader-board, which is frankly over-priced compared to what can bought on yell.com or Yahoo Local, then a flat "No thanks" is probably not the best way to go, considered the group needs funds.

From what I understand from Noel, no-one will match the current amounts made by the Adsense banner. Therefore, it wouldn't make sense to replace the Adsense banner with another company's banner. If the two banners were to be run side-by-side, then it makes no sense to reject a genuine offer to advertise, given there are no other advertisers on the forum.

I did mention some f.o.c. advertising in the magazine as I'd provided two articles which have already been published elsewhere, but no-one seemed that interested in that either.

Having been given all the available information, I fully support your bid for a banner in conjunction with the Adsense boxes and hope that the other trustees and directors will do the same.

Yes, see the link in the first post of this thread.

When you click through, it identifies itself as "ARG Appeals" & "Pembrey Archives"

Is this the same thing as this appeal or is it for something different?

Kevin, the title just needs updating from Pembrey Archives to just ARG Archive

We are seeking funding to buy copies of the HMSO civil series of official history books, of which there are many published between the early 1950s and the mid-1960s. We already have several but want to add to the collection.
