Greetings from a cold, dark, wet place on the wrong side of the Pennines for an airfield enthusiast
I spawned an interest in airfields from the plane spotting days of my youth - One day I thought 'I wonder how many airfields there were in Britain during the war?' Lets get some old 1970's OS Maps from the library and find out (this was before the internet BTW). After a bit, I found out it came to something like 600 (little bit of help from the Action Stations books that I discovered along the way). The obsession began out of curiosity, and now I like Cold War stuff (60's thro' the 80's). Too bad so much has gone now, but hopefully we can keep things flying in flight sim - I appreciate the work of the scenery builders and hope we can get more Cold War bases reactivated. I wonder if I should have another go at my AI F1-11 in GMAX
