I'm afraid that the very small well weathered plaque was just about un-readable, This was August 1987,Maybe they've replaced it by now ?? The aircraft was a B-24 from the 93rd BG. It crashed there on 29-10-42. It took of from Holmsley, Hants at 7.20am to fly anti-submarine patrols on the above date. When returning at 3.30pm two young boys saw it crash into Bossington Hill. In the very wet swampy weather the District Nurse, Nurse Bragg was carried to the crash site, Sadly there was nothing she could really do. Only one man survived S/SGT.H.B.Thorpe, This is the second siting for this memorial as the first at the actual crash site was almost inaccessible.
