Hello, sorry I haven't introduced myself earlier. I served in the RAF from 1960 to 1974 but oddly enough only became interested in airfields many years later and even then have spent most of my working life on old airfields - Westcott and now Spittalgate (now Prince William of Gloucester Bks). I admit I'm a civil servant working for the TA, but someone has to do it. Have managed to visit two or three old airfields near my home in Licolnshire and hope to get around a bit more when I retire later this year.

Welcome to AIX !!!
Hi Jim
welcome to the forum, look forward to hearing a few of your airfield stoires. We do try and organise a few trips throughout the year so you'd be more than welcome to come along on any of them. I think there is a visit to Digby being planned, possibly another Newton trip sometime and maybe a Bentwaters visit.
Look forward to seeing you on the forum
Thank goodness Spittlegate/Spitalgate is now know by another name!
Welcome to the forum.
Hi Jim, welcome. I also joined the RAF in 1960, being one of the last 2 year National Servicemen to enter. Like yourself, I became a Civil Servant, and worked in the MOD for 35 years, mainly in the Whitehall area.
Robin.
