Hi,

I found the link to this site while looking at the great photos of RAF Sheperds Grove on Richard Flagg's website. I'm doing research on the Grove as it was in the early 50s when it was host to the Sabres of the 81st FIW and am currently trying to recreate the airbase for Microsoft Flight Sim X. Right now, there's not much more than the runways, taxiways and dispersals, but I hope to populate it with correct buildings and static a/c for the period. I'm also planning some artwork of 81st Sabres in which the airfield will play a part.

I'm a USAF veteran and had the pleasure of being stationed at RAF Chicksands in the 60s, at which time I became hopelessly addicted to British cars (mostly of the Lotus and Mini Cooper variety).

Thanks for joining, hope you found my site useful. It may also be worth contacting the Bentwaters Museum as I think they have a few things relating to Shepherds Grove. http://www.bcwm.org.uk/

There are a few guys on here who do flight sim scenery so I am sure they'll be able to help out too.

hi Don, welcome on board, done many a gig at bentwaters, lakenheath and chicksands during the middle seventies, i was a drummer in a soul band, you were a great bunch of guys, welcome and good luck. perry

My tour at Chicksands was the best time that I spent in the AF. We all loved it there; just wish I could have stayed longer.
