Sadly the only shot that i seem to have of this dedication to Sergeant Pilot W P Dales. This is in St Peters Church. He was killed aged 22 while on an operation over Ostend in November 1941.

Would like to know type and serial number of aircraft that was shot down at Ostend ?

Sadly it doesn't mention what aircraft he was flying in the book I have [Aviation Landmarks]

Thanks for that link, which I had not seen before. My late Mother knew the Dales family and she would have liked to have known that information. I took her to see the window a few years before she died.

A belated thank you to everybody who has responded . Great information . So sad to see him and his small terrier and the dog is remembered on the stained glass window. Aircraft was a Spitfire Vb AB984 of No.611 Squadron at Hornchurch shot down into the sea off Gravelines by Fw. Adolf Glunz of 4/JG26 Fw.190A on 05 Nov 1941 one of 2 Spitfires on a Rhubarb patrol.
Would like to know individual aircraft code ? The Squadron codes were "FY".
