New member here but have been a member of the Flypast Forum for years and on PlaneTalk since it started. One or two of the names here seem familiar to me so I expect I'll be familiar to them as kev35.
Always been interested in Aviation history in general and the RAF in particular. As I've gotten older, my interests and energies tend to lie with the Act of Remembrance and Memorialisation. Inexorably drawn to both aircraft and airfields I then find I have to find out about the people. Hence the research into the Graves connected with RAF Tilstock. I also volunteer at the Shuttleworth Collection in Old Warden as and when I am well enough or can take a break from caring for my Dad.
Had a brief sojourn into authorship when I wrote the history of 37 Squadron. The writing and the interaction with the Veterans was a highlight of my life, the business side of things far less so. I am currently being 'encouraged' to write more for publication, probably in the aviation press. We'll see how it goes.
Hope to do more around airfields as I found the Tilstock visit particularly fulfilling and encouraged me to look deeper at the role of Tilstock/Prees Heath in the Great War which is another of my passions. In fact I'm hoping to go for a wander on the site of the old Aldridge Airport one of the evenings this week. If I find anything of interest I will be sure to post the outcome.
Finally, I'd like to congratulate the admin team on producing this excellent site which has every opportunity of growing into a fantastic repository of and resource for all things airfield related.
Regards,
Kevin Mears
