I received this from David Thompson last night, thought it may be of interest to a few folks

A new 158 Squadron memorial will be unveiled on Saturday 16 May 2009 at
15:05 hrs by The Archbishop of York , Dr John Sentamu . The memorial
will carry the names of all 851 squadron personnel who were killed on
bomber operations during the war . The memorial designed and sculptured
by Peter Naylor of Beverley has been sponsored by Novera Energy who are
building a wind farm on the site of the former wartime airfield . Once
operational all of the wind turbines will carry the names of squadron
aircraft .
The BoBMF are due to give a flypast following the dedication at 15:30
hrs although I believe the Lancaster is still in Germany awaiting an
engine change ?

On the subject of Lissett memorials, the wind turbines on the airfield, as many will know, are named after Lissett-based aircraft with the exception of one. The naming and dedication was scheduled for the 15th September 2009 at the 158 Sqn Association reunion. They are:

Friday the 13th
Goofy's Gift
Lilli Marlene
Jane
Xpress Delivery
The Menace
Blondie
Zombi
Maori Chief
Git Up Dem Stairs
Minnie the Moocher

The twelfth is to six ground crew killed in a bomb dump explosion on 2nd July, 1943.

What a terrific touch. One of the main reasons I dont mind seeing these places used like this. Well done Novera Energy I say.
