Although we have been looking at Aviation Fuel, it is known that the Reserve and Distribution Depots needed to store and issue other substances such as Engine Lubricating Oil, Anti-Knock Octane Improver (Tetraethyl Lead) but I have come across descriptions which refer to Fuel/Bitumen tanks.
Given the massive airfield building programme during the early years of WW2 there was a huge demand for bitumen products for use by Air Ministry and War department contractors. Presumably much of this was imported so where was it stored?
