The 7th and last photographs under Various Memorials [42 photos] will show the Windrush church wall plaque that I posted a while ago.
Sadly the memorial on the wall at the Church in Windrush has been damaged by this cold weather we have had recently. The top half of it has broken off, it was not to been seen around so I assume it is stored somewhere.

I was part of the team that organised the erection of the memorial at Windrush. I was shocked to see the state of the stone. I contacted Allan White who was the main man in getting the stone and told him of the condition of it. I will contact the Vicar and see if I can can get another stone made to replace the damaged one.

Well as at 2.30pm on wednesday 16-06-2010 this frost damaged plaque looked exactly the same as REFs photograph that was taken 12-03-2010. :|
Saturday afternoon 14/8/10 the stone has been replaced.
Ian
Ian, Many thanks for keeping us posted, do you have any photos of the new stone?

Thanks for that Ian, good to see it again how it should-be. As always I'll be over that area, Sherborne, next Wednesday.

Blimey everyone seems to be in my old stomping ground of late! :)
I'll try and pop over for a look when I'm back home in September. I haven't been to Windrush for ages and finding a box of old negatives from the 80's last weekend made me feel all nostalgic. :)

Good to see that the plaque has been restored.
There will be a Church service that will rededicated the Memorial on Remembrance Sunday at 9.30am.
