RAF Freckleton
We have recently discovered that there used to be an RAF Freckleton where medical training was performed. There was a Spitfire on the gate. Does anyone know anything about it or better still have any pictures. Where was the station? We would love to put something on the site. Please contact us (http://www.freckleton.org/contact/contact.html) if you have any information. There was such a unit - don't know about the Spit. I've emailed them.

Yes there was an RAF Freckelton which was the major training unit for medics in the RAF, I believe RAF doctors did their basic training here. Would you believe I dont know exactly where it was! I suspect it may have been very near Warton.
And at the time of the disaster in 1944 it was the worlds worst.

Just done some research and according to wrecks and relics the Spitfire in the Manchester museum was on the gate at Freckleton. It was also at Weeton and Warton. The Warton connection was Im guessing at 90 MU.
