Instead of searching for the contents of the photograph archive in Swindon you can now do so online (see link above). I typed in 'airfield' into the search box, and got 1167 hits. Some have online images. May be of use. :)

Looks good but I think most of the airfield ones have been online before. I'm holding out for the aerial photo collection :)

I suspect money will be short over the coming years so I doubt there will be much progress on that front.
