This must be the most important structure in the USA regarding WWII, thankfully you have an organisation that acknowledges the historical value of the place. Are there any more current photos of the tower and area? It would be great to see them.

The taller tower draws your attention but it is the older, smaller one that looks more interesting.

Just a quick update: The restoration of the Ford Island tower(s) is well underway! Don't know where they came up with the money in this cash-strapped time! Here is pic of the tower swathed in scaffolding.

It's an important part of US history and needs to be preserved and maintained I am pleased that work is progressing.

Let's hope sufficient money was acquired before the recession bit.

My wife's uncle was at Wheeler Field. A piece of shrapnel broke his jaw. He always said it was from the Arizona blowing up, but it is more likely from a nearby explosion.

As Roosevelt said "a date which will live in infamy". And was it Yamamoto who said after the raid "we have awakened a Tiger"??

We have a awakened a slumbering giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.

Wow, look at that staircase!

If you worked in vis control and were late for work one day and found the lift not working......

And having staggered to the top the SATCO calls a practice fire alarm.......

Hello all! Long time no see.

Here's a before and after photo of the tower. Richard, I'm glad you got to see it! Did you see the machine gun bullet divots in the concrete?

Thanks Tommy. Whereabouts were the holes? We were only there a short time as we did a full day tour of the Pearl Harbor Visitor Centre, USS Arizona, USS Missouri, Pacific Aviation Museum, USS Oklahoma Memorial and the USS Bowfin. It's an amazing place and I still need to go through some more photos that I took.
