RAF Barrow Common, Chain Home/JASWS

On the rising ground behind Brancaster Staithe on the north Norfolk coast is the rather unassuming remains of RAF Barrow Common (http://www.flickr.com/photos/saltgeorge/sets/72157609538715694/with/3045890244/). NHER 31786 (http://www.heritage.norfolk.gov.uk/SingleResult.aspx?uid=MNF31786).

From the aerial photographs available (WTP link (http://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm?lat=52.95787317107202&lon=0.6642531999417381&gz=18&oz=8&gt=1)) you can see the radar equipment building (UKOS 79.00, 43.40), the generator building (UKOS 79.02, 43.39) and the four concrete bases that supported the later tower aerial (UKOS 79.06, 43.32).

The generator building holds a single generator bed.

The plaque is the white rectangle roughly in the centre of the first picture, it's attached to the equipment building.

I must download the most up-to-date Defence of Britain GE files, I see there's a thread on DoB on this site. I've quite a list of sites that I'm aware of through sources like NHER that aren't included on the DoB dataset I'm using at the moment. I found this site after researching the decontamination and standby set building at Docking, it popped up on the NHER map just a couple of miles to the north of these buildings.

Does anyone know anything about what exactly was in that Radar Equipment Hut?

Both buildings are locked, and the Brancaster Commons Committee only know as much about the site as what's on the plaque.

A quick update, DJ Oska and I were able to arrange access to both buildings with Brancaster Commons Committee last month. The interior has been mostly gutted, although a few details remain.
