Hello everyone hope you are all having a good day so far. I am living in Birchwood which some of you might have seen on a couple of threads it where RAF Skellingthorpe is so cant wait to properly explore and see what we find.

My names elizabeth but preferd to be called Lizzy. I have got an intrest in the RAF and old RAF bases this is down to my dad doing 10 years in the RAF and for nearly the first 2 years of my life I lived on RAF Newton base that was a nice base and from what I have heard a lot of good times was had.

Was going to go into the RAF after my dad but sadly down to ligament damage in my ankle which still plays up to this day I was not fit enough to join. My sis is going into the raf either as RAF Police (dog unit i think is where she wants to be), tatctical supplier (like our dad) or photographer.

Want to know more just ask.

Lizzy, organised trips are run by the Airfield Research Group (ARG) of which AiX is the public forums. Whereas you don't have to be a member of ARG to join the forum the organised trips are restricted to paid up ARG members. Likewise we have a display programme where we take the ARG display and recruitment stand, this year amongst others we are at the Waddington Airshow. Details on joining ARG can be found on this part of the ARG website.

Welcome to the forum.

Hello Lizzie and a big welcome. Keep your eyes peeled for organised trips if you decide to join ARG. There will be announcements over the next couple of months, likewise, ARG stall appearances at various shows and events through the year. Enjoy thr forum!

Greetings from Canada on a lovely January day. I was just a young fellow when the #33 S F T S at Carberry Manitoba Canada was engaged in training pilots, we lived a few miles from the east end of runway (80?) and watched Ansons and Harvards take off and aproach the field, in our village there lived an officer from that station, squadron Leader Harper, I believe he was a decorated person at the time, he left before the station closed in 1944 and I never heard of him again. My question is, does any one have any information on him and did he survive the war.

Hi Freddy, welcome to AIX. I am fairly new here myself but seeing your post re Carberry I thought you might like to see something I posted on WW2Talk:
Don't seem to be able to attach a direct link but try visiting WWW.WW2Talk and put Nash and diary into the search function, it should show a thread from 1943. Hope it is of interest.

Hi Lizzy - welcome to AiX.

.. and to Freddy who appears to have hijacked the thread (just joking :-D).

I believe Mike's link should be this (http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/searching-someone-military-genealogy/29597-1943-diary-detective-work-needed.html).
