View Full Version : Urgent appeal
URGENT APPEAL
The archive is now in the process of being properly sorted and indexed, ARG have purchased 50 special archive boxes which have all been filled and filed, we will need more very soon.
In addition we have an opportunity to purchase some valuable and rare Home Office books for the archive.
We have also been very fortunate in securing a large archive about RAF Pembrey, this has been donated by the daughter of a researcher who has passed away. This archive is huge and consists of many original documents, plans, photos etc TNA and RAFM were also after this. It will also need sorting and storing in boxes.
WE now need to raise an initial sum to purchase the books and additional storage boxes. We are slowly setting up a funding and marketing strategy which will bring in funds at a steady rate, however the books are too good to pass up and the Pembrey archive needs to be stored. Once the archive is fully sorted and indexed it can be made available.
The idea of pledging an amount of money in support has been raised before on here and I'm hopeful that this appeal will be supported by as many people as possible.
Details of ways to send donations can be found here
http://www.airfieldresearchgroup.org.uk/appeals.html
I therefore pledge £20 towards this appeal and hope many more will follow.

£20 will be on its way from me via Pay Pal
Thanks for all the support from everyone and keep it coming!!
The paypal is set up and can be accessed via the following page on the ARG website. Note, anyone can use this not just ARG members. There is also a picture of some of the sorted archive boxes and cabinet.

The paypal is set up...
It is - and it works; £20 sent. (I would have liked to add a small amount to cover Paypal charges, but it seemed limited to £5 / 20 / 50, and sadly the extra £30 was more than I was prepared to pay )

A coupla bob now on way via PP.
£20 actually, in case anyone takes that literally ( not that a coupla bob will mean anything to younger forumites!)

No Canberra, these are ancient HMSO docs, that are owned by a book shop! Cheers everyone so far!
I got confused with the Paypal bit having to buy a donation! Seems the Paypal method is popular though.
How does one use BACS though? I assume it is to do with internet banking, which I won't use since a couple of friends had money mysteriously transfered to another account.

Can someone let me know the email address of the AIX Paypal account please?
That way I can send a personal payment from cleared funds in my account. I have no intention of letting Paypal rob any more fees from me than they already do at the moment!

Thank you very much indeed to everyone thus far.
Will you be able to give an update on how needs to be raised at some point?

I take it you mean how much?
To purchase the books and obtain more boxes for both the existing ARG AiX archives and the newly acquired Pembrey archive, we need £650. Thanks to the generosity of all who have helped so far we are about half way there.
Yes indeed - brain is ahead of my typing speed :)
Thanks to everyone who has pledged so far.
Rich i will put you a cheqe in the post .
Thanks Bomber, and a big thankyou to everyone who has chipped in and helped this far, it really is greatly appreciated by us all.
Just an update, your kind donations along with a grant from RAFHS has allowed ARG to secure the Pembrey archive and purchase some very rare HMSO books which will really compliment the archive. In addition a large number of specialist archive boxes can now be purchased.
This has been a major turning point for the ARG archive and a lot of work has been put in by Paul Francis in sorting, indexing and filling the initial 50 boxes - I suspect he has much more to do now though!
Once again thanks to everyone who has contributed.
Cheers
Noel

We would like to raise around £250 for another 50 archive boxes (which will make a total of 200), these are required, so that we can store and organise photos and other paper data sheets of another 50 or so airfields.
I will pledge £20 towards this, £230 to go, anyone else like to help?
