Radar Platform Mystery

I was having a look around the H.A.A. Battery at Culmore in County Londonderry when I noticed this Radar Platform.

It is the only one I have found which incorporated a loophole as well as the 4 columns at one side which are something of a mystery to me.

Any information you can give regarding what this was used for would be very much appreciated.

It's difficult to identify the ages of some of the structures on so-called HAA sites. Many wartime AA sites were added to or modified post-war during the Cold War era.

The ramp for a mobile radar was to raise the scanner head above 'ground clutter'.

EDIT: I note that the Radar Ramp on this site is built about 170 yards directly south of the gun site. The satellite view in in the Northern Ireland Environmental Agency website is much clearer. The line of four pillars is at 90 degrees to the ramp.
