Those nose docking sheds look like any you'll see on USAF bases over here..

some pictures of the hangars in use on this site look through the Ron Steffen work, interestingly the interior hangar shots show the tail leftout side the building

Whats the airfield used for now? It has a semi derelict look about it?

Whats the airfield used for now? It has a semi derelict look about it?

Now under the name Stephenville International Airport (YJT) it is still in use. What I photgraphed are buildings now outside of the active airfield. What I had not truely realised is that much of the barrack accomodation and domestic buildings appear to be still in use by the town.

Additionally some of the above ground concrete fuel storage tanks built by the US are still in use by modern fuel distributors

From YJT website

"The Stephenville Airport’s infrastructure includes a 11,000 x 200 foot main runway capable of handling any aircraft flying today. Stephenville also offers the best weather conditions on the east coast of North America. The Stephenville Airport is strategically located to serve the needs of the aviation industry and is open to exploring new business opportunities"

Looks to be some interesting buildings there and plenty to see too. 11,000 ft runway - thats a fair length too.

Hi keb: Where is Harmon in relation to Goose? The buildings look just like those at Goose, although it is now 27 years since I was last there! Must see if I can find the pics I took there and at Churchill Falls.

Stephenville is on the Island of Newfoundland (the Rock) and is about 1000km from Goosebay

The Pictures I took were all along Carolina Drive to give you a sense of location

some interesting approach lights to be seen in a small lake on the landward side of the runway
