I have always associated the 'Seagull' type Defence Post with airfields so I was surprised to see one here:

NGR SH436565

If you view in Google Earth with the Photographs layer turned on, 'DragonHunter' has a photo -link of it.

Amazingly I drove past that one a month ago on the way back from Llandwrog. I was in a slight hurry and there was no obvious spot to park and take a photo, and I felt a need to return to the airfield in the future - unfinished business.
Street View (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=53.083466,-4.334782&spn=0.002475,0.0103&t=h&z=18&vpsrc=6&layer=c&cbll=53.083494,-4.334995&panoid=BoZlsWfdmOWC1qJyhuIptQ&cbp=12,212.22,,1,0.47)

It's very obvious when driving from the north and I was a bit surprised by its location, though I found later there was a large dispersed site (http://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm?lat=53.093632567442775&lon=-4.336353856718328&gz=17&oz=8&gt=1) for the airfield just to the north.

Don't mean to distract from the original subject but this relates to Dinas Dinlle as well.

This is sitting down a gravel track about 400 yds from the control tower, is it related to the airfield (or just a piece of scrap metal)?

It is about 5-6 foot diameter at it widest, hemispherical in shape with the hatch with is clearly visible, though otherwise solid.

Looks like an Allan Williams turret

....and checking the DoB database online it is recorded as such:

If you use google earth Steve ('cptpies' on here) produces an excellent extended version of the original online DoB data
