I was visiting the old Chain Home Low station at Black Head in County Antrim last week and saw this structure on the hill directly above the station.

There appear to be 8 large concrete structures forming a semi-circular shape.

I was unable to get closer to take further pictures however the fully frown tree in the background should give some idea of scale.

This structure is visible on Google Earth.

I am guessing it had something to do with the CHL station but what was it???

Looks like the bases of an array of some sort.

The Google Earth view is fuzzy; this one is better and shows the foundation blocks in an arc:

From Dobinson, Black Rock was one of the later Coastal Defence / Chain Home Low stations, and one of the first to be mothballed (Nov 43), along with Oxwich, The Law (Carnoustie), Needles, and Westburn (Aberdeen). I wondered where it was exactly, as it's missing from his gazetteer!

Haven't seen the above layout on any other similar installation. Most had the aerial assembly mounted on a square tower, or on the roof of the building as in Craster (http://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm?lat=55.47674207723911&lon=-1.598709225654602&gz=19&oz=8&gt=1)
