I am looking for any information about 137 Battery of 35 Light Anti Aircraft Regiment from the Royal Artillery and where they were in Cornwall in May 1941 and what they were doing. I am particularly interested in the circumstances of the death of Gunner Thomas Smith, 1547693, who died on 2nd May 1941 and is buried in Illogan Cemetery. Any information however seemingly insignificant would be gratefully received.

File WO 166/2707 (35th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment War Diary, August 1939 - September 1941) held at Kew will hopefully hold the info you're searching for.

All the best,
PB

Hi Phil

I'd be happy to look this up at Kew in my next trip in December?

Thank you for the kind offer, but someone has already done that for me. The Diary records that Smith died as a result of an accident with a .22 rifle. The inquest recorded "accidental death".
