View Full Version : US Army manuals - download site.
Colin Ba sent me this useful link. Unfortunately everything I've downloaded has every page obscured by a damn great logo. He doesn't have this problem. Tried IE and Firefox.

Feedback please.

Logo-free on the pages themselves, but the US Army Military History Institute watermark can be seen on the page list at the side.

Logo free for me as well.
No logo with any combination of OS/browser that I have tried
Oh dear, here we go again. I'm using Foxit Reader, not the bloated Adobe. Is that the problem?
However, I tried a few others:
TM 9-260 Browning Machine Gun, Cal. .30, M1919a6 (01 Sep 1943) (http://www.90thidpg.us/Reference/Manuals/TM%209-206.pdf) wasn't a problem
FM 9-6 Ammunition Supply (15 Jun 1944) (http://www.90thidpg.us/Reference/Manuals/FM%209-6.pdf) is a problem
FM 24-5 Signal Communication (19 Oct 1942) (http://www.90thidpg.us/Reference/Manuals/FM%2024-5.pdf) also a problem

The copy of FM 9-6 is from the US Army Military History Institute, hence the watermark.
TM 9-260 isn't, so the only watermark is the 90ID one on the cover page.
More annoyingly, I don't seem to be able to download any of the US Army Military History Institute manuals from source any more... :(
FM 9-6 Ammunition Supply (15 Jun 1944) (http://www.90thidpg.us/Reference/Manuals/FM%209-6.pdf) is a problem
FM 24-5 Signal Communication (19 Oct 1942) (http://www.90thidpg.us/Reference/Manuals/FM%2024-5.pdf) also a problem
Both fine here after the over-printing on the initial page
Houston - I have a problem. Every page of the two above documents is 90% obscured by a very black 'US Army Military History Institute' logo. On a 'good'page I just get one sentence at the top / bottom.
Somebody up there doesn't like you, NSA Rules! OK!
Graham,
I do not use Adobe products either, I use a freeware pdf reader and writer called 'Nitro' and all works well for me.
Might be worth a try?

Clean and clear for me with Foxit.
It is Foxit causing the problem. Just tried Nitro and everything is fine. Not sure what to do about Foxit as it has been 100% to date. Remember trying Nitro a year or so ago and found a problem or two, but then that's software for you .

PDF Factory is very good as well Grahm we use it at work.
Using Firefox i.e and Adobe , no problems thanks for the links.
Just replaced Foxit (2.3) with version 5. Heeded all the warnings about all the extras it tried to install. I note that the folder size has increased from 8 meg to 36 Meg. That's the price of progress but fortunately well short of the latest version of Adobloat which is stated to be 320 Meg :x.
However I can now not only view files without logos, version 5 will actually read them to me (should I every want to listen to this dreadful voice). Now that is progress.
Thanks for the feedback guys. There are some interesting documents on that site.
