I picked a copy of this book up in a second-hand sale a while back.
Inspired by the author's father who was in the ACS, it covers the establishment and development of the Service, with plenty of maps and photos of airfields in the UK and NW Europe, construction plant, temporary matting types, etc.
It concludes with a listing of the composition of the various Airfield Construction Wings.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled then - I have found it for sale for the equivalent of £35 on Amamzon.de and I can only partly translate the page! Never mind, it'll show up again somewhere, I suppose. I tried the other suspects, Amazon UK, Abebooks. Any other ideas?

try a request to your local library service, its what you pay taxes for. Anyway used to work when I was a lad!

I have a copy also. A good read. I tend to buy mine when thay come out as books on airfields tend to be deleted very quickly.
