Great find. Can anyone find the index (http://www.cyberheritage.com/usarmynavy/index.html) for this site?

The main index is here...
http://www.cyber-heritage.co.uk/

But be warned -it's a bit chaotic to say the least - a lot of the links work spasmodically as it appears the site owner has severe bandwidth problems- some of the captions are not correct.

Patience is definately a virtue as there are some great WW2 pictures to be found if you can work your way through it all.

Good luck

Dave, I meant the index to the photos - the author states an Excel Index is available ! ?

Totally agree about the pot-luckability of this site, but happened on some more Mount Batten Photos (http://www.cyberheritage.com/rafmtbatten/)

On the same site is this.....

http://www.cyberheritage.com/australian_airforce-in_england/alb%204.3%20RAAF%20Album%201.html

Steve Johnson's site is vast, difficult to navigate but at the same time interesting. I keep finding things I missed before.
There are also some very large ECW format aerial photo's from 1946 and includes RAF Bolt Head in all it's glory.
The albums are full of gems, though most are not aviation related.

The "Whats This" rusty cylinder looks like a buoy. Could it be a mooring buoy?

There was a book published a few years ago about RAF Mount Batten. I borrowed it from the local library. I would like to find a copy. (The library no longer has a copy.)

This is probably the book..

Mount Batten: The Flying Boats of Plymouth (Halsgrove Community History S.) (Hardcover) by Gerald Wasley
Has lots of excellent photos, good descriptive text ...I had a copy from local (Torbay ) library.

The author is a Devon person.

I think it was a different publication, softback A4 size, dealt with the history of the actual base rather than the aircraft.

Phil- have a look on Amazon - if you input "Mount Batten" it brings up details of several books including some about the Plymouth base...IIRC one listed was a paperback.

I think the publication you are seeking may be 'Mount Batten Flying Boat Base Plymouth 1913 - 1986' by Dennis C Teague.

It is soft back, A4 size and contains dozens of photographs of the base, its aircraft and personnel throughout its history. The book was printed locally by P.D.S. Printers Ltd., Unit 11, Kay Close, Plympton, Plymouth, PL7 4LU. I'm afraid I dont know whether this firm is still in existence.

I cannot remember the year I bought a copy but it was obviously after 1986. The WH Smith sales ticket still attached shows I paid 4.95.

Hope you find a copy.

Managed to have a wonder around Mount Batten whilst in PLymouth the last couple of days and found these parking spaces behind one of the hangers.

OC C FLT was over painted in yellow with NCO RADIO
