Thank you for the replies, I like those links leggera. I may be able to find something then.
FOUND SOME PICS OF THE FORGOTTEN BUNKER I MENTIONED ABOVE
[link is now dead]
Image No 11 in in the above link is a rare (now) 20mm Gun mounting for anti-aircraft role.

Im not sure it was extensively used in the recent world wars but Drop Redoubt is a good place to have a wander round if anyone comes down this way. It has a few pill boxes and gun placements. It is at least easy to find ha ha

Here are some photos from my recent visit to Hawkinge.
Located by a roundabout along Aerodrome Road opposite the Cemetery. http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.11....2&r=0&src=msl
Quite Possibly the site of an old Hangar http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.11....9&r=0&src=msl
A couple more photos from here http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.11....5&r=0&src=msl
And here http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.11...19&r=0&src=msl
Also I recommend a visit to the Cat and Custard Pot in nearby Paddlesworth (located here http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.11....2&r=0&src=msl), a small traditional Pub which was a favourite with Pilots and ground crew from the airfield. There are many things related to the airfield hanging on the walls and ceiling. The staff are friendly and are happy for you to take photos but I didn't take many as it was a busy lunchtime. I had lunch there myself and was satisfied with what i had eaten.
The Cat & Custard pot must have changed hands recently, i went in there about 3or4 years ago and the guy was a right old miserable bugger, used to please himself when it opened.
