    Default Abbots Bromley

    Abbots Bromley Apr90

Many moons ago, as a single man, I fondly dreamed of doing a photographic compilation A to Z of the countries airfields, a sort of Abbots Bromley to Zeals if you like. Alas, I haven't got very far, but here's the start. It was never much, an RLG for Ansons etc. Did I read somewhere that the Robin is a post-war addition?

Abbotts Bromley airfield is situated here:

I first visited here in August 2007 with CDP, we were lucky to drop on a sympathetic farm hand who let us wander at will.

    The "guardroom"

    Main entrance

    Robin hangar

    Interior

The only other surviving tech site building

Just over a year later, October 2008, en route back to Gods county from RAF Stafford CDP and myself dropped on some trackways and picket posts in these woods to the north of the airfield:

Any comments welcome particularly from anyone with a site plan!

EDIT, photos on here where linked to my website which I had marked as Abbotts Bromley dispersed sites. Thanks to Graham identifying them they have been taken down, I will repost both on my website and in the appropriate non airfield forum in due course.

    Cheers Graham.

Noel - you have ventured into Reserve Ammunition Depot No.21 MSU Bagots Wood - principal subsite of 21MU Fauld. I've got a location plan (which I'll post) but no site plan.

Did you find it accidentally? I visited it 15 years ago but there was definitely no access (obviously better now?) Could see a few buildings and hardstandings through the trees. I don't have much on it, and it seems to have been emptied very quickly post war - despite Fauld itself being largely unusable.

These are good pics - we need something in the 'Other Sites / Ammo Depots' thread. The other main late-war subsite was Tatenhill airfield.
