I visited Full Sutton in 1977. It was being dug up at the time I think. I couldn't really tell as visibility was only about 50 feet. We waited for it to clear but by lunchtime visibility was still poor so we moved on to the first Samuel Smith's establishment.
As an aside there was a large billboard not far from there and it gave a startling message - "Speeding in fog is the only offence that carries the death penalty". Made me slow down - I was only walking!

Add a load of caravans and that is what was behind the fog when I was there in 1977.

wasnt full sutton a bit pointless as was opened so late in the war and wasnt open long

It was also fitted with the very expensive contact lighting which wasn't proving to be as useful as hoped. I guess that paperwork was already in place...
