I don't think anyone got a photo of the crossbars and ground pickets from Sommerfield Matting that came up.
Presumably used for additional roadways around the ststion.
All the best,

After finding these on Saturday with Carnaby, I went back on Wednesday 25 May to photograph the southerly of the two remaining 800 yard marker lights on the main runway.

We were invited back to Eye over the August Bank Holiday weekend to clean out another former pond.
Again, it was one that have been partially excavated previously, so we took the opportunity to complete the job.
Here's a few of the items recovered, after initial washing:
A few items from last month's excavation.
Aircraft antenna insulators and other electrical items:
Formation light fitting:
Sawn-off pipework:
AN-B-10 Bomb shackle:
Detail:
Nice Bakelite jar lid:
All the above still need a lot more cleaning and conservation work.

Hello.
I am trying to do some research on the house opposite the hospital site for Eye Airfield. The house is called the Old Curacy and was used as the US Officers Club.
Does anyone have any info on the house / club during the war.
Any details would be much appreciated.
Regards,
James
Hi James, I live local to Eye airfield and I had nothing on my site plans to say the house was used as an officers club, I will investigate further though and report back.
Many, many thanks - any info would be much appreciated.
I know Bob Hope is believed to have stayed there when he toured entertaining the crews. I grew up in the house and quite a few Veterans knocked on the door over the years to have a walk down memory lane.
Best wishes,
James
James, is this the house you mean?
GOOGLE STREET VIEW
That's the house - it is directly opposite the old hospital/sick quarters site.
Many thanks for taking the time with this - I really hope to find out more of this incredible part this house's history.
Best wishes,
James

Better get some photos of the airfield before it has these built on them.
