From Aug 97
I remember taking this one. I wanted the single hangar, tech site, as much of the airfield as possible and the sea all in shot. Pity the horizon is not horizontal eh!

Can anyone tell me where this is?
I work in the area and would love to see it.
Thanks.

Yeah, it's (now) at RAF-Hendon in North-West London.......(bummer, eh ? LOL)
They channeled the wall out to save it & it was featured in Flypast sometime in the 1980's (IIRC)
When I 1st looked at AirfieldMan's pix, I was thinking "HOW MUCH BETTER" it looks in situ......(North-Creake).
I'm guessing the firm there (A.B.N.) wanted rid of the hut (?) so, better 'saved' than sorry.
Reminds me of that superb mural I've chatted to Jason about, at Wendling.
But, that one's still in place (or was the last time he 'P.M'd me !)

I am having a few issues with North Creake at the moment and wonder if anyone can help.
This is supposed to be a B1 Hangar;

However, it does not show on the RSP. The RSP is very inaccurate and shows a number of buildings on the technical site in the wrong place, also buildings that exist are not on the plan either. I know this happens regularly but I have never seen this many inaccuracies on one. It even shows a Hangar to be where a dispersal is, the dispersal remains today. Ken Delves book states, 2 x T2 and 1 x B1 hangar, the RSP states 2 x T2's and it also shows the sites for 2 more, Willis & Hollis states the same as Ken Delve. When you consider the airfield was only open for a very short space of time November 1943 to July 1945, and a spell on C&M after the war as it was considered for upgrade to Super-Heavy-Bomber base status which never happened.
Also, a photo of the Tower taken 25 May 2007

Hi REF. I'm reliably informed that it is a MAP hangar. I agree that the RSP is inaccurate, as I've found a number of discrepancies around the Tech Site myself.
Google Earth allows an approximate measurement of 240' x 130' Richard, I think that's in the ballpark for a B1? Hangar dimensions aren't my forte however. Whenever I've been to Creake I've always thought of that as a B1 I must say.
So it's a bellman hangar rather than a Transportable then?
I did wonder... as the roof looks a little soo steep to be a T-type hangar...
Does anyone have any more info on what is actually REMAINING here?
I've had a look at bits and pieces, but so much of it is difficult to look at with the main road running right through and the imposing potato factory buildings and high fences.
This is another site of interest to me- being a few miles away from me.
