Fauld was re-visited a couple of times after the WW2 explosion.

There were only a few BD Flights left in the mid-60' and Fauld was covered by a 'northern' flight although I can't recall where it was based. The team was probably using Stafford as a base whilst they did the job and, yes, 110 WB Landrovers with Sankey 5cwt trailers and Bedford 3 ton RLs were the vehicles of choice.

MoD Stafford house the RAFM Reserve collection and access is not easy to arrange. I was fortunate to be invited along when Jerry arranged a visit in October 2008. Here are some pictures of what was there then.

Excellent pics Richard; I'm pleased at the diversity of the 'relics'. A Martin-Baker MB 2 canopy??!!

I suspect that the 'airfield' lighting indicator board is non-specific.

    I got the Wessex in!
All the buildings in picture 2 are due to be demolished within the next 2 weeks and the large concrete building in top left corner of pic has been flattened and there just a pile of hard core now

Noticed the large stores behind the main site gate (the larger lighter-roofed building with 'wings' in photos 3 and 5 above) was in the process of being pulled down yesterday - I couldn't see the whole building without going onto the site but at least the central area was flat and the brick buildings behind were visible from the main gate.

I was also told the sale of 4-Site for housing has stalled...

Am I seeing things, or is there a helicopter lying on its side in smiler16's last photo above - and possibly another (white) one behind it? Towards the bottom of the photo slightly left of centre?
