Hi guys,
Hopefully you'll be able to hear my dulcet tones on Radio Sheffield next Monday on the Rony Robinson show around 11.20 when I'll be talking to him about the website and airbase!

Interesting thread, I was bougt up at Forest Town and never even knew there was an old base there, shame its now gone.
Whist i'm on about it, does anyone know anything about a US Army munitions store that used to be in Worksop ? I was doing a spot of digging as you do and came across a story in the Guardian about their being a chemical weapons storage facility there....something else I never knew about but I suppose that was a good thing.
Be interested to find some info on it if anyone knows owt about it.
I think it possibly refers to Clumber Park. I don't know of any US Army presence there, and as far as I've been able to dig, only standard (explosive) munitions were stored. If I find anything otherwise, I'll post up here. I'm from Mansfield (mah duck!)
I was born in Woodhse mesen
Thanks for the reply anyhow, the map refs I found led to Clumber Park but didnt show anything there unfortunately.
Clumber Park
Identified on an MOD 2007 report for 'Project Cleansweep' as a site where the US military stored phosgene and mustard filled shell.
Renamed CAD Worksop in 1952.
