Sorry not been around much lately I have been in bad health, lung damage caused by smoke inhalation in Fire Service 72-83 in Essex before the and at the time of Foam introduction into furniture. Not seen my mother yet but hopefully going back down to Essex in New Year when I visit my mother and ask about speaking with her brother in law mentioned above.
Just another quick question, is there anything going on Foulness now about the proposed airport there, I know it was shelved (not cancelled as a lot of people were led to beleive) it seems strange that they appear to be doing a lot new Rail station work on the areas that abbut onto Foulness and the departure of the Army from Horseshoe Barracks at Shoeburyness. I know the Proof and Experimental establishment is still there, maybe just holding it open. They do still use the Rail line from Shoeburyness occassionaly, so really a link would not be that difficult as the only bit that is not MOD is the public road outside the station that the crossing is on. The rest of it is on MOD land so they wouldn't have to buy the land.

Any particular reason for the demolition?
Apparently there are plans to build on these sites not too sure when it will happen though.
Thanks for that, I'd sort of assumed that that was agricultural land but I guess nowhere is safe from Anna Waite & her council stooges who are "Building a Better Southend".
Theres going to be a 'Saxon Business Park' in that sort of area. Sadly we are running out of green areas around Southend.
Looking at this plan of the proposed runway extension it appears that the field will contain some of the landing lighting.

Nice the way the children's play area gets relocated near the road.
That's our council, never lets anything get in the way of what they want or takes the slightest notice of public opinion.
I was wondering about the lack of taxiways for the extension. Presumably planes using it will have to do a U-turn and backtrack up the runway to the nearest one after landing.
