A Ctesiphon Hut isn't like Nissen etc, has sought of draped appearance between ribs, and from memory not half circle section.

The hut in the pic looks like a local lash up made from shelter sides that have been erected at a different angle to normal and giving the whole building a slightly odd double bubble appearance

I think that I found it on satellite but could you post a location link?

I'm with you Carnaby; it is very similar.
Sorry Peter. As i said it was a really fleeting visit as i was running late and it was hammering down with rain so it was basically a case of quickly photo everything i could see around the tower area and move on.As far as i can remember there was no structure behind except a modern building several feet away.I can't really give you a location link other than to say it's situated next to the control tower where the microlight club is based. Sorry i can't really help mate.
Will be passing by there in a couple of weeks so a revisit (and more pics!! hopefully more revealing) will be posted on here immediatley.

No problem Stevie. If you look at your Image No 8 you will see a difference in the colour of the brickwork between top and bottom of the structure. Then look at Image No 9 and what I took to be a blast wall at the rear of the structure covering another building is, in my view, the 'run-in' entrance to the blast shelter the extension of which continues to the left.

In other words, someone appears to have material salvaged on site to build a roof over one half of the blast shelter.

Yep! I see what you mean Peter i'm pretty sure you've solved the mystery there. I do remember thinking it looked odd when i photographed it.

    Cheers,
    Steve

I was in the Stratford/Warwickshire area for the bank holiday so obviously i couldn't resist returning to Long Marston for another 'investigation' and also a good excuse to update this thread as theres quite a lot still here to see. If only it wasn't so COLD!! Brrrrrrr!!!!

    Airfield Defences-

I've never seen three Cantilever Pillboxes so close together on an airfield like this before. They were in great condition as well with gun rails still in place.

Another rare 'find' as well. Gun Emplacements. I've only seen these elsewhere at King's Cliffe -

    The Battle Headquarters -

I decided NOT to venture into this one.Didn't look very inviting.

Some of the buildings that survive around the old technical and communial sites -

    AML Bomber Teaching building -

I couldn't forget to include the latrine obviously. I'm sure they have a better survival rate than any other ex airfield buildings. -

Theres a suprising amount of communial buildings still standing -

    ..and something completely different -

It looks like it's crashed landed straight in the undergrowth but this Shackleton forms what was once an air museum here at Long Marston. The entire museum has been left to rot basically and is a real shame as theres some interesting airframes in there amongst the undergrowth.

    My final batch.
The Control tower which thankfully is getting a facelift for the first time since 1980 apparently. It was starting to look a bit shabby as you can see from the pics i posted earlier in this thread. It is still headquarters to the local microlight club that still use the airfield.
Many thanks to the guy who showed me around the tower and chatted to me about the club and airfield's history. A top bloke!

The upstairs. I would have thought that this is the old radio room. Now it's a bar. (closed on my visit. Damn!!)

The airfield guard dog keeping an eye out on me -

    Thats your lot...Hope you enjoyed!!
    Cheers,
    Steve

My image shows something very similar. Bulldozed into a hedgeline at Cock Robin Lane on the South eastern perimeter of Hunsdon. Just a few yards away from a marked GP on the RSP. The same shape and form as the ones you photographed. This part example was set in concrete once.

Cracking pics Stevie, gotta love those 'mushroom' pillboxes!
How were they entered and do you have a shots of the internal arrangements?
Those concrete ring gun emplacements, are they the same thing as motley stalk gun emplacements do you know?
