Well as to who owns it I am not sure (Probably the local council). But the land that the runways is situated on has been bought by a housing company. So I fear that it may well disappear. I can only speculate that perhaps the helicopter museum may save it from demolition as their building is only just out of the picture.
As to the age of the tower itself I will guess this and await comeback from the experts! So here goes. I think it was probably late twenties early thirties, as wasn't there one similar to this at Brooklands in Surrey? built prior to or at about the same time. You must admit it has a very primitive look about it, reminiscent of an old railway signal box. Another link for you to peruse?

See This link from UK Airfields For a then and now view, then being 1991! Don't weeds and brambles grow quickly!

The larger building at the rear is still there but alas it is very sad repair as to the building that was attached to the tower itself that all but gone.
the Officers mess is no more. though the old guardroom is still standing further along the site

I was at a battle re-enactment on Weston airfield a few years ago I'm surprised that our filled earthworks show up on google earth, that'll confuse archaeologists.
The Bessoneaux hangar which was destroyed a while ago is still on the Bing view here
Go into 'Bird's Eye' view and it will disappear.
There are some excellent views of this site in 3D /Bird's Eye, examples being this one and the control tower
According to this the hangar was officially known as the Type 'H' Canvas Hangar. Comments?
