I would have thought a good palce to try would be the German archive.
Hi there,
Would anyone be able to help me locate an aerial photograph (or plan) showing the layout of Jersey airport either just before or during WW2? I have some photos of the hangars and terminal building from 1940 and 1945, but have so far been unable to find something showing the layout. Failing this, would anyone be willing (or able) to annotate a Google Earth screen-capture of the modern-day airport and show the 1940 boundaries etc?
Many thanks for any help
Joe

Would have thought the RAF would have done some overheads at some time during the war.
Possibly in the lot shipped from Keele to Scotland.Originally Posted by Daveg4otu

I've got a postcard that I bought during our visit to Jersey a few years ago. It's called; First Flight, St Aubins, Jersey Summer 1935. To quote what is written on the reverse in my own words. In 1933 the beach at West Park was used by aircraft. By 1935 six DH.86 Aircraft were bought for the Jersey to Portsmouth route. One of these was called 'Giffard Bay' The flights were restricted by the tides. £5.0.0 was the cost of a return trip to London. A trip across to Alderney was Fifteen Shillings which is 75p today. The painting on the front shows DH.86 Giffard Bay on the beach with six passengers waiting to board. The Artist is Robert John Wolfenden.
I also have this picture in a frame and signed by the artist Robert John Wolfenden.
