No map here I'm afraid. But it does look a lot like an RDF base in some respects. About the right distance from the flying field too.
Chipping Norton dispersed sites?
Does anyone have a site plan of Chipping Norton that shows all the dispersed sites on it? The only one I have is from "British Military Airfield Architecture" and it mostly covers the immediate airfield area.
I've been looking at a large area period aerial photograph and I've spotted a lot a buildings quite some distance from the airfield itself and I'm just trying to confirm if they're part of the airfield or something else. They certainly confirm to the size/placement patterns of other dispersed sites.
On a related note - is this anything to do with the airfield?

While I doubt the circle is, that little track with the stub ends just screams Air Ministry to me. Thing is, it's not on the period photo although it is quite near one of the dispersed sites.![]()

Can anyone help answer these two questions;
How many hangars were originally built at Chipping Norton ?
Where was the bomb stores located ?
Thanks
SD161 records 2 Bellman and 10 off 65' Blister. As it was Little Rissington's Satellite - No.6 (P)AFU I suspect it had no bomb stores.
Thanks Graham, I had thought tere might not be a bomb stores for that reason but wasn't 100% sure.
Yes, no bomb stores. Good cover of the airfield and sites in GE 1945
Just Google Rebbecca Brookes, any spelling of Rebbecca and Brookes will find Chipping Norton!
