    Oops...

Edit. Followed up by a classic bit of understatement!

"A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "A Tornado GR4 from 13 Squadron RAF Marham made an emergency landing at Newcastle Airport this afternoon.

"We regret the inconvenience caused by the closure of Newcastle Airport's runway. An inquiry will be held."

    The crew were safe, thankfully.

Cheers to AiX member peakcrew for pointing this one out.

    Default Teesside ?

It went into Newcastle....some 30 miles to the north of Teesside . You lads in the south need to get your maps out more ! It was GR4 ZA371 and the other Tornado declared a PAN but couldnt get into Teesside for civvy diversions from Newcastle so went to Leeming .

    Default Woolsington / Newcastle

Taken from the viewing area in 1976. It was a really good viewing area but alas no traffice to view. Do airports still have them I wonder? Gatwick has one which is no longer much good.
