Changed a bit since then! Good to see the ghost of the erlier layout. One of my many unfinished sketches (not drawings as they are not neccesarliy map accurate) is the layout before rebuild and before the spectacle hardstands and extra T2's were added. Must finish it now!

Who came up with the idea of drawing the runways a solid black? I still can't decide which I prefer, solid or outline. What about grass or metal track?

Yes one of mine with solid black runways - all my hard runways are solid black as invented by Aldon Ferguson.

In flight simulator editing software the rwys are sold grey, I think military aerodrome charts also have rwys solid black like this http://www.aidu.mod.uk/images/landing_chart.jpg

Thought you might like to see the earlier layout.

This is possibly the layout as it was being built. Hangars and additional spectacle type hardstands were added later. Comparing it to norwichpaul's drawing it looks as though some frying pan stands are missing but due to the poor quality of the original photo it was difficult to make them out and I have no idea what was on the NW branch so I left it blank.

Incidentally this was done in Paint.NET but I found the rotate and zoom function on the layers to be annoyingly difficult, particularly the zoom, which is difficult to fine tune.

Nice work PNK, always nice to see how arfields were built on existing land, and your image does this well.
