    The gaps are there to give breathing space between the displays. It also allows flexibility in case an aircraft is running late. And I remember that weekend well, Ramstein had a display as well.

    I think you've misread my post, the US displays don't have gaps, unlike the British ones that have big gaps between aircraft for "flexibility" or tardiness as it could otherwise be called.

    I understand that at British shows most of the aircraft are on a tour of half a dozen shows and US shows tend to have more local ships but it could still be better. I sound like I'm moaning...

    Good timetable but poor siting. The whole spectator/visitor area is located within the explosives hazard zones (IBD) from the munitions areas and should never have been permitted. Somebody was grossly negligent in their duties by hazarding the public.

    It's 20 years this month that the F-15E Strike Eagle arrived at Lakenheath.

    But the USAF did look at another aircradft to replace the F111, it was called Tornado. They rejected the Tornado allegedley because of its lack of range.
