I would just like to take this opportunity of thanking Martlesham Heath Aviation Society, in particular Tarkey Barker, for inviting myself along to Lakenheath Air Base on Friday for a very memorable seven hour tour. I have been to the Viewing Point many times but to go behind the scenes like others before me on here made for an exceptional day

There are photos of the day on my Webshots album here http://rides.webshots.com/album/5734782 ... host=rides

John Some amazing shots. We had a great day didnt we. The Yanks pulled out all the stops to make us welcome. This is number 5 I have arranged and they just keep getting better.
I even enjoyed throwing paper planes off the Control tower

Nice shots of the F-111F's NP. The EF-111A in the second pic, was that taken at Lakenheath or Upper Heyford?

They are the aeroplanes I always associate with Lakenheath. Most impressive when coming in low over the warren, wings swept back and coming round again to land.
My wife was impressed but my 6 month old daughter wasn't fussed!
