Default Nailstone - 490th BG Memorial

These photographs were taken last November, 2008. This memorial is at the village of Nailstone close to the church in a memorial garden. Nailstone is about 10 miles west from Leicester. For more information Tap 490th BG Memorial At Nailstone to Google.

That was a Dan-Air HS 748 on a mail run, probably to Liverpool. The cargo door came off and wrapped itself round the tailplane, resulting in loss of control.

I hope Airfields man doesn't mind me updating his thread and getting it back on to the original topic. I popped into the Memorial garden myself today (22/8/11) and took a few pics.
It was nice to finally photograph this tribute to the men of the 490th.

No ! Steve, Airfieldsman doesn't mind at all about your update. Far better photographs than mine anyway. It was a cold damp November day and I was trying hard not to tread on what few flowers were remaining and not leave foot-prints in the soft earth. Why though I didn't take an overall shot like your last photograph I've no-idea. Well done.
