Control Tower is currently extant but not for long!

Anymore info or pics of the tower? What's going to happen to the site?Originally Posted by norwichpaul
Plenty of activity there. I have to drive past the place on a regular basis, usually at going home time ( I live about 5 miles away). Lots of roadworks going on outside the entrance to the site with 2 new roundabouts having been installed.
Cameras not allowed nor mobile phones with cameras
I've been reading Army Air Force Stations: A Guide to the Stations Where U .S . Army Air Forces Personnel Served in the United Kingdom During World War II (Anderson, Capt. Barry J.; USAF Historical Research Center, Maxwell AFB: 1985). It lists all Second World War USAAF stations in the U.K. in three ways: by numerically by station number, alphabetically by name and alphabetically by county.
I noticed that in Berkshire it listed Station # 467, Aldermaston and #476 Aldermaston Court. Are these not the same place? Can anyone shed light on this?
Tom
Aldermaston Court is a country house, now a hotel by the name of Aldermaston Manor.
As Station 476 it was the Headquarters of IX AFSC from December 1943.
All the best,
PB
