RNAS/RAF Charlton Horethorne, Somerset has a Battle HQ still in place.

Is it RAF or RNAS that is the intriguing question?

    Dear Carnaby

I know the feeling I do it all the time.

If any body knows what control tower/watch office was at Chareton Horethorne I would be very pleased to here about it or any information about the airfield.

RAF Ibsley now this is an interesting BHQ as it has two cupolas.

    Default Ossingtons bhq lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Northwest corner of the A/F, just a few yards outside of the peritrack in a hedgerow. One of the very few structures still surviving here. SK 120 740651. E474068 N365144.

This one is easy to get to. If you park just off the road that crosses the site on it's Western edge, you can walk up the peri-track Northwards, past the M&E plinth to somewhere I've arrowed.

The last few feet will depend on the farmers crop and recent rain.

    Alton Barnes

This is what I feel could have been Alton Barne's Battle HQ, it now has a Sarsen stone filling it up????

This is the open emplacement and you can see the whole airfield from here.
