Noel (NJR) and I couldn't find much when we were there in May 2008. PM me with you email and I'll scan a site plan in and send it to you - though it may not be until Monday as I am away again tomorrow first thing!
Thanks for the site plan Richard I've got the OS map for the area coming so the 2 combined will help me find things, I noticed on Google earth a couple of seagull trenches I may try and find them.
A quick look around Viroconium sometime next week then the rest of the day exploring Atcham.
There is alot more to see at Condover not far down the road but I hope you have a great time. Be interested to see what you find at Atcham.
You're right about not much to find at Atcham Richard but I did find a sleeping shelter & the remains of a couple of E Pens buried in the undergrowth, it was too over grown to get a picture of the E Pen but I did get the sleeping shelter I'll post up the pics of it later.
Nice find Buccaneer, where abouts is it at Atcham?
The building is about here http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=52.69....5&r=0&src=msl it's marked No 61 on the plan that you sent me & there is also another building about here http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=52.69....5&r=0&src=msl it could be the remains of No 52 the flight offices a small ruined entrance is right next to the road but barbed wire & undergrowth defeated me.
There are the remains of an SAA store (I think) in the wood in the foreground of the nice aerial shot. On the edge of the wood, facing towards the dual carriageway, is a very overgrown pillbox. As I remember, it is not marked on the airfield plan.
