The Swoose
From Wikipedia: The Swoose is the 38th of 42 B-17Ds built by Boeing. It was named after the then-popular song Alexander the Swoose, performed by bandleader Kay Kyser about a bird that was "half swan, half goose: Alexander is a swoose". She served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.

The Hurricane is in the diorama section. Behind it is a trainer that has just crashed and bent its prop all to hell and gone...

I'll get a snap of the real Beaufighter this weekend!
Hi Tommyusa.
nice set of photos of the USAF museum, the photo of the line of hangers on the far side of the field looking from the main museum, are they not the ones where the Presidential Flight aircraft are kept along with a few other like the Valkerie. they were there in 2002 when i last visited. the tower and the nissan hut were there also, the guide told us they had built it to show the type of buildings used on british airfields. hope to get back there one day soon. ps is the B36 undercover yet. regards Ranger
Ranger,
Yes, the B-36 is indoors now that they've built a fourth hangar. It is a mammoth aircraft:
Now they're trying to get the funds to build a fifth hangar for the presidential planes (and yes, those are the hangars to which you referred) as well as the remaining aircraft parked outside which are next to the 8th AF Control Tower and Nissen hut where I am privileged to volunteer.
Tommy
P.S. I think this is my 500th post. Woo hoo!
