I recall discussion on Bucket Emptying Stations on this forum several years ago. Was it established that these were for disposing of waste from chemical toilets (Elsans)?

    If not, what?

    Thanks.

Odd that there was an emptying point in a Picket Post. Perhaps it was some erk's duty to stop on the way past and dump the content of his Section's Elsan toted in the back of a truck?

Well not really Peter, before the ablutions and latrines were completed several huts in outlying areas did not have facilities and the Elsan was the only choice. http://www.atlantikwall.co.uk/oldsit...tml/page05.htm Keevil had a bucket cleansing house. The picture of an Elsan on my website I photographed at Hurn in an out lying area.elsan.JPG

Nice photos Richard, I must admit that I didn't realise how what was left to see down there. One day I'll come and visit.

The Tower looks in good nick too, do you know if there are plans for it? Great pic on the balcony as well.

That I know of it there is no plans to do anything, they all have the usual preservation orders, do nothing and let it fall apart preservation.
