Okay these aren't exactly the most interesting pics but i thought it was important that there should be a thread on AIX about the former RAF Stratford anyway.

Unfortunatley we couldn't get any pics of the control tower area on this visit (if anybody has any it would be great if you could post them on here)!

I did manage to see the B1 and even the control tower or what is left of it but that I am afraid is about all. Also one plan I have on my website pages of Stratford states MAYCRETE, sorry will amend as soon as poss! I am not sure but is it harder to look around now as there seems to be more office/factory buildings since we were there?

Thanks for posting those Richard. Never got to see the B1 on our visit so it's good to see that pic of it. I wasn't even aware it was still standing to be honest. Thats not to say it isn't still there obviously as it's more than likely buried amongst the new modern buildings.

After re-visiting the old Stratford Upon Avon (Atherstone) airfield today (14/4/10) i think think these pics will more than make up for what i said in the quote above!

Wartime era Mick. All the art work is in the old mess hall.

A revisit is planned. The Standby set house and Ops Block still survive as well.

Made a return trip to Warwickshire a couple of weeks ago and met up with fellow AiXer Richard Drew for some airfield exploring. Heres a few from our Stratford visit to compliment the pics i've already posted here on my other posts. This has turned out to be a really interesting site to look over -

Can anybody shed any light about the art work in the old mess hall here at Stratford?? (more pics posted earlier in this thread) We were thinking that perhaps they date from after the war when these buildings were possibly used to house homeless Polish persons -
