Yes I remember it flying when I was younger, I was unfortunate enough to have seen the Provost wreckage just after it was recovered, a horrible sight.
As a huge Fairey fan (no comments please!) it was gutting news.
I remember the man flying it at airshows in the 80's. He was lost in a Provost crash which was down to an engine fatique issue if memory serves.

Yes for a man with such a large amount of flying experience it was a tragic end. I can still see in my minds eye the Flycatcher displaying.

The airfield's WWII W/T site was HERE.
Interestingly the modern cottage has a similar plan form to the original block. There were four masts and the site was known locally as 'the wireless station'.
