No idea they existed until I saw one at Duxford last week. I assume it must have been something to do with the Helitech Exhibition.

While the new tower was being completed, we occupied a temporary tower for six months at Liverpool in 1982. It was a Portakabin mounted on scaffolding in the middle of a field, not quite as high as that neat example; got a photo somewhere. One pilot called it "the little house on the prairie"!

I see they have a disabled toilets but no Stanner stair lift, thats not equal opportunity at work?

Very nice but, as PNK says it must have wind limitations (and I don't mean flatulence from the SATCO!)

Where does the power come from? Is that white object masquerading as a Houchin GPU the portable power supply?

I can't see the pic, so I'm unaware of the age of the mobile ATC we are talking about, but the RAF currently use them in small numbers. They are used when the RAF are deployed to airstrips with limited facilities and can be deployed by air. I believe TACATC use them aswel.
There was one set up at St Mawgan for a couple of weeks a few years ago, it consisted of the trailer mounted VCR which was raisable on a scissor lift, and a fixed trailer mounted 'approach/radar room'. It was camoflaged in sand colour, so guessing ready for deployment somewhere hot!
